Personal Branding tips – Take 10 minutes to be “in the know”

Read-up on your industry: Take 10 minutes a day and read relevant blogs, e-newsletters, websites, books, even the newspaper. What’s going on in your world of marketing, healthcare, cyber security and fashion?

  1. Update your social media accounts: You already know what I’m going to say here. It takes less than 10 minutes to send a tweet, post on LinkedIn or to draft a blog post. Remember #1, there is probably some content in what you just read; share it!

  2. Find a webinar: Take 10 minutes and research relevant webinars. I can always find a 60 min webinar from American Marketing Association or MarketingPros Today. I usually try to find one’s that occur during my lunch hour. Rather than spending time chatting with your co-workers, use that time to enhance Brand You and sign up for a webinar.

  3. Attend Workshops/Conferences: I know this one can be a little costly, but what is more valuable than your brand. Take 10 minutes and identify local workshops or conferences that you know you will benefit from, start a list. If it requires some savings, start saving now and work towards going next year. You’ll be glad you made the investment.

Engage in local networking: Turn happy hour into chatty hour! You don’t have to spend your happy hour getting all of the $5 drinks, but rather you could use that time to network and be social. Put a face and voice on your brand. Make sure you have your elevator speech ready in case you’re asked “What do you do”, that’s your “in” to introduce Brand You. Take 10 minutes to find a few networking opportunities for this week.
